Winter Wrap Up

The sun is higher, the days are longer, every place you walk into feels like a sauna and the guy standing next to you smells like a rat just gave birth under his armpits. Pretty hard to believe winter only ended three weeks ago, yet its already a cold distant memory in the back of your head.
Even though it came late and at some stage threatened to not show up at all, it proved to be well worth the wait and arguably the most productive and progressive season South Africa has witnessed so far. Under the watchful eye of the snowboarder club, the Afriski park was longer, wider, bigger and the riding was sick to match.
Standout riders through out the course of the season included Luke Dutton (new grom on the block), Mawa Jekot, Matthew Amoretti, Marcin Jekot and the most consistent of all, Rueben Storbeck. In my opinion these dudes killed it week in and week out and showed their worth at the year’s premiere competition, the King’s Cup.
Like I said earlier though, the season is done and dusted and the only thing SA riders have to look forward to is the 1st Birthday of the Gone Skiing shop in Johannesburg and play the waiting game for the Northern Hemi snow flakes to start falling whether it be the US, or Europe.
I have no idea what the updates will be about from this point onwards. Maybe weekly parties, random lifestyle babble nonsense, could be lame, could be interesting, who knows. Check back when you’re bored, or have nothing better to kill time doing.
