Ultimate Wave Tahiti Premiere in South Africa

Thursday the 25th of February saw Quiksilver and IMAX Gateway playing host to the premiere of the much anticipated Ultimate Wave Tahiti. The film by Stephen Low featuring 9 times World Campion Kelly Slater is an educational story that captures the spirit of surfing, the science of the ocean and the power and beauty of Tahiti. The film focuses on Tahiti and the volcanic islands of French Polynesia, home to the Polynesian seafaring culture and some of the world’s most challenging surfing, as well as astounding coral reef ecosystems that are the interface between the island and the ocean.
Over 250 of Durban’s industry, media and surf community turned up in style to see the film’s first screening. The film opens to the public on Friday the 26th of February and will be playing at the Gateway until the end of April and will them move to Menlyn for the month of May. Tickets are R42 and R32 for children. The film is 48 minutes in duration.
For anyone interested in surfing, the mechanics of waves and Tahitian culture it is a must see.
